Good luck on the haibun. So glad you're trying it out! I know what you mean about trying to write in prose. I always try to read a little Basho first and then practice; he's such a good inspirer (if that's the right word) of this form. A little loose in the paragraph, then zoom to super focus on the haiku. For me it took a lot of practice to get into the swing.
